De Trappist Achel has been brewed since 1850 within the walls of De Achelse Kluis under the supervision of the monk community. No beer was brewed between WW I and 1998. Today we brew 4 different beers that are filled in bottles of 33cl or 75cl.
Achel Extra Bruin 750ML
Achel Extra Bruin
Achel Extra Bruin pours modestly pearly, but fine and regular. The smell is also rather on the modest side, but after some rolling with the glass, sweet notes of caramel malt with a hint of vanilla are released. The alcohol is also perceptible and stimulates the nose. The mouthfeel is soft and round and the alcohol is well hidden. The aftertaste is much less sweet than the taste suggests and ends in a slight and pleasant bitterness that lingers in the mouth and dries up the palate, as it were. The mouth is then ready for another sip.
