Domaine de Beaurenard Rasteau Les Argiles Bleues 2018
Vineyard Profile
A selection of plots characterized by their exceptional soil shot through with blue Pliocene marl, rich in minerals. A singular expression of a unique identity.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard. Co-fermentation, long vatting for soft extractions. Matured for 12 months in oak foudres.
Varietal Composition
Grenache 80% • Syrah 20%
All of Domaine de Beaurenard’s vines (60ha) are cultivated organically (Ecocert certified) and even biodynamically (Demeter certified), without synthetic chemicals. The vines are thus attuned to nature, lunar and planetary cycles, and the rhythms of the cosmos.
Reviews
Jeb Dunnuck – “A step up, with more depth and density, the 2018 Domaine de Beaurenard Rasteau Les Argiles Bleues is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah that was brought up in foudre. Incredibly pure notes of cassis, black raspberries, new leather, chocolate, and graphite give way to a full-bodied, structured Rasteau that has all the right components, yet will benefit from a year or two of bottle age. It will last for a decade or more. It’s a seriously impressive 2018.” (91-93+ Pts)
Wine Spectator – “Juicy and forward, with a mix of raspberry, cherry and plum notes bouncing through, backed by light-handed licorice and fruitcake accents. A mesquite note curls around the finish.” (91 Pts)
