Cavas Valmar is a pioneer of modern Mexican wine and is even mentioned in Jancis Robinson’s The Oxford Companion to Wine.
Valmar, merger of two surnames Valentín and Martain, was inspired by the grandfather Don Federico who came from France and made wine for the family.
Cavas Valmar was the first boutique winery established in Ensenada, Baja California, by Fernando Martain in 1983. Initial production was 300 cases, increasing to 3,000 cases today and continues to be family-owned and operated.
