Delgado Zuleta Barbiana En Rama
Manzanilla de Sanlúcar de Barrameda
Manzanilla en rama from selected soleras of the Rodríguez La-Cave house, a historic winery with which Delgado Zuleta merged in 1978.
Purely Sanluqueña Manzanilla made respecting ancestral methods.
Technical Specifications
Unfiltered wine, biologically aged under a veil of flor. Made from 100% Palomino grapes, this Manzanilla is aged for approximately four years using the solera system, maturing in American oak casks recovered from the history of this century-old winery. It has an alcohol content of 15% vol.
Tasting notes
Golden in color, bright and luminous. On the nose, it presents a complex and very intense aromatic profile, with aromas characteristic of prolonged biological aging, where nuts, cereals, citrus fruits, and aromatic herbs stand out. On the palate, it is dry, flavorful, and unctuous, making it very smooth, as well as having great volume and persistence.
Pairing
Ideal to start with seafood tapas, such as fried fish or Sanlúcar prawns, and to continue with grilled, baked or stewed fish.
Delgado Zuleta is the oldest winery in the Jerez region. According to various documents in its archives, its origins date back to the 18th century, with the oldest file found in the company’s extensive archives dating from 1719.
Few wines are as deeply connected to a land, an identity, a way of life as Manzanilla from Sanlúcar. To say Manzanilla is to say Sanlúcar, and to say Sanlúcar is to say Manzanilla . The wine of joy, of sharing, of enjoyment. The wine of light, of the sea, of the breeze. A unique wine, found only in this singular and beautiful corner of the world.
Because for Manzanilla to exist, there must be Doñana, Bajo de Guía, westerly winds, Palomino grapes, and chalky soils. There must be centuries-old wineries with complex systems of criaderas and soleras, there must be ancient casks strangely half full and half empty, and time must pass—a great deal of time—in shadow and silence. There must be wise, old foremen who know how to maintain the life of a mysterious garden of yeasts, a beautiful veil of flor that survives in a precarious balance between extractions, records, and topping up. For all this, and much more, Manzanilla from Sanlúcar is a unique wine in the world.
At Delgado Zuleta we have been making manzanilla since 1744. Naturally we have modernized some processes, especially from the finished wine onwards, but in the long phase of production and aging, which can extend up to 10 years in some of our older manzanillas, the most ancestral winemaking arts and techniques are still respected.
The result is an authentic Manzanilla from Sanlúcar, made in the most traditional way. Golden, aromatic, and flavorful, it evokes the sun, the sea, and the South.
Perfect as an aperitif, it’s an elegant complement to Iberian cured meats, soft cheeses, fried fish, or seafood stews. A wine to savor.
