Reviews
James Suckling – ” I love the balance of warmth and restrained richness on the one side, with the mineral freshness and fine tannins on the other. And this has exactly the kind of welcoming yet subtle amarena-cherry fruit that the world expects from this appellation. Spot-on balance at the long finish. Drink or hold.” (93 Pts)
Wine Advocate – The 2020 Domaine Chignard Les Moriers Fleurie wafts from the glass with aromas of mulberries, red fruit preserve, sweet spices and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and fleshy, it’s lively and charming, with powdery structuring tannins to underpin its enveloping core of fruit. It’s a lovely wine. This 10-hectare family domaine, its holdings dominated by Fleurie Les Moriers, is a fine source of classical Beaujolais. Before the AOC system was defined, wines from this sector were frequently traded as Moulin-à-Vent, and that makes sense when you taste them. Winemaking at this address is traditional: whole bunches and macerations that last the better part of two weeks, followed by maturation in foudre and tank. Only two cuvées are produced, and both are worthy of readers’ consideration.” (92 Pts)
