ESTABLISHED: 1940s
REGION: FRANCE • Loire Valley • Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule
APPELLATION: Vin de France
BLEND: 100% Tressallier
VINEYARDS: Estate vines, facing southeast, grow on gravel-rich, alluvial soils on an ancient riverbed. The region of Saint-Pourçain sits at altitude, some 900 to 1,200 feet above sea level.
AGE OF VINES: 20+ years
WINEMAKING: Hand-harvested. Destemmed; juice chilled overnight to settle. Fermented on indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks. Aged briefly in tank on fine lees and bottled in spring.
TASTING IMPRESSIONS: Aromas of citrus zest, crushed stones, light herbs, fresh nuts. Tangy and fresh, light bodied with bright acid and good balance.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: As a refreshing aperitif with cold cuts or appetizers; light salads; fresh French cheeses; grilled chicken with herbs
NOTES: French law as of the 2016 vintage prevents 100% Tressallier wines to be labeled under the Saint-Pourçain AOC. This is the the same wine as the estate’s former ‘Le Tressallier de Gravières,’ now a Vin de France.
