Starting in the 1970’s, German Festbier started to take over as the primary beer served at Oktoberfest. Lighter in color and slightly less malty than a Märzen style Lager, it is now nearly exclusively served at the Enegren’s Oktoberfest event. The Enegren Festbier comes in at 6% ABV with a rich gold color, moderate malt profile, and slight hop characteristic.

Our Festbier-style lager closely resembles what patrons would enjoy in any of the six prominent Munich breweries’ Festzelts. Despite Märzen’s status as the official Oktoberfest beer for over 150 years, the Munich breweries opted for a transformation in the 1990s, embracing the lighter, more approachable Festbier.

This Festbier maintains a reasonable maltiness but is notably less robust and possesses a lighter hue compared to Märzen. Its profile features a bready, slightly sweet flavor profile complemented by the herbal, spicy, and floral characteristics of German hop varieties.
