Fabio Motta Lo Scudiere Toscana IGT 2019
With this wine, Fabio Motta pays tribute to his father-in-law, Michele Satta, one of the pioneers of Sangiovese in the Bolgheri DOC, a growing region made so famous for its “Super Tuscan” wines using Bordeaux varietals.
In his words, “It does not only embody the Tuscan tradition, but it is also the hardest and, at the same time, the most exciting variety to work with.”

Reviews
Wine Advocate – “The 2019 Fabio Motta Lo Scudiere is redolent of dark fruit mixed with hints of scorched earth, cedar, spicy tobacco and dried rose. The effect is simple, and although you don’t get the same vertical lift or complexity as you might expect from Sangiovese further inland, the richer soils of Bolgheri that were once home to fruit orchards can work with the finicky variety. That said, Sangiovese represents only one percent of the total planting in the appellation. This wine is made with 25% whole cluster and is aged in 30-hectoliter truncated cone vats for one year. Some 3,300 bottles were produced.” (91 Pts)
