Winemaker’s Notes
The Rose is not a Salasso, the grapes were pressed directly after a short (3 hours) maceration in the press. With the direct pressing the Rosè is much more elegant, Salasso Rosè is always a little more rustic, because of much more tannin. The grapes come from our highest St.Magdalener Classico vineyard, at about 450-500 meters above sea level. It’s our steepest vineyard, south-east and southwest exposition, Pergola trained and very old vines. The soil is just the same as in the Rondell vineyard, sandy and with lots of gravel/debris of Granite, Porphyry, Limestone and Gneiss. We did choose that vineyard for the Rosè because it gives even more freshness.
