My love for the central coast combined with a passion to make high quality wines at a great value, led me to start Fundamental by Joey Tensley. I knew I couldn’t compete with the old world wines, but I had the California sun that produces some of the best grapes for winemaking in the world. I was determined to make some of the best California wine that anyone could drink, any day of the week.

Tasting Notes
The nose is greeted with aromas of dark berries and subtle notes of fresh tarragon and mocha. On the palate, flavors of blackberry, plum and elderberry are followed by hints of hazelnut and vanilla. This full-bodied Cab is bold yet elegant, with velvety structured tannins and a lingering rich, black fruit finish.

Vineyards
While the northern part of the Central Coast is known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it is the southern part of this growing region where Cabernet Sauvignon thrives. Our carefully chosen Cabernet sites enjoy sunshine-filled days that unfold into chilly nights due to the maritime influence of the Monterey Bay. The high day-to-night temperature differential allows the grapes to hang and develop concentration and intensity, the hallmark of exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon.
