GOAL. Brewing Czech Premium Pale Lager
Our Czech Premium Pale Lager, or Czech Pilsner, is probably my second favorite style of Lager behind Helles. It’s medium body for a softer mouthfeel, allowing the malt flavors to linger on the palate a touch longer compared to the drier German lagers.
It also contains a larger dose of melanoidin malt than our other lagers to simulate a more malty or toasted bread characteristic that you would get through the maillard reaction of cooking protein.
The grain bill contains mostly floor-malted Pilsner from Pivovar Ferndinand just outside of Prague, Czech Republic. The addition of Czech grown Saaz hops adds spicy and floral flavors to the beer, but is tempered by the higher residual sugar content, leading to less perceived bitterness and a smoother finish.
