Great Notion Luminous 11

Luminous is our Sour Milkshake IPA series. The only rules are no rules when it comes to the next number in the series.

For Great Notion Luminous 11, we decided to create a cocktail inspired beer, so we took inspiration from the classic Blue Hawaiian. We built the beer as a Milkshake IPA, and began the mash with a blend of Pilsner malt, oats, and wheat. We use a bit of milk sugar in the boil to create the pillowy mouthfeel for this style of IPA, and then we use Citra and Mosaic hops to the whirlpool to pull out their citrus and tropical qualities. We fermented Great Notion Luminous 11 with tangerine juice in addition to a sour fermentation to add some acidity. After fermentation is complete, we add passion fruit, pineapple, coconut, and vanilla. We also had some fun by turning the beer blue to finish this cocktail fueled beer.
