Sumi Ink 2022 is a 5-cask blend of well-selected bourbon barrels from Basil Hayden (aged 2 years), Bookers (aged 1 year) and Taconic (aged 6 months) conditioned on Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans. This release is a straightforward expression of malt, oak, vanilla, and time.
This is a barrel aged stout from the pre-pastry era; svelte, delicate, and drinkable and the sweetness here is in balance. We find notes of toasted oak, fruity chocolate, dried cherry, and vanilla. Enjoy!

This storied beer was named for a festival-goer’s mishap: in need of a display bottle of stout while pouring at a beer festival, Lauren filled a bomber with diluted sumi ink that she had at home and put a cap and label on it. After the festival was over, the facsimile had disappeared. Whomever took the bottle was, sadly, in for a disappointment!
