Everything in the cellar is done in stainless steel and the wines ferment with native yeasts.
The Ludes family has the most parcels in the Thörnicher Ritsch, a site on the Mosel that is likely the coldest south-facing site on the entire valley – kept cool but the brisk winds that come up the side valley abutting the site and wash over the vines every night. The wines of the Ritsch thus have even more brisk, energetic acidity than is commonly found on the acid-abundant Mosel.
A large percentage of the vines are ungrafted and up to 70 years old – planted by his grandfather in the 1950s when the estate was founded.
