Living Häus Beer Co. Ripley
Have you all heard about this new trend, hazy IPA? We really think it’s gonna take off so we wanted to see if we can help get this style off the ground. Check out our second attempt, Ripley, made with our new pals from Solaris Beer & Blending.
We started with a simple grain bill of 2 row and a generous helping of malted oats, which give the beer that unique body and pillowy mouthfeel. Then we layered in all kinds of fun hops to get a fruit forward nose and flavor profile that really seems to be the driving force of the style.
American hops like simcoe and mosaic were added in the whirlpool and the fermenter at the start of fermentation for a deep saturation of stonefruit and tropical hop notes. We also gave this beer multiple rounds of dry hopping with HBC 586, more simcoe, and vic secret hops which are grown in Australia.
We are loving how this beer has turned out! Ripe peach, pineapple, and mango pith come through in the nose followed by a juicy and full bodied beer with heavy guava flavor in the finish. What a treat.
Thanks to Chad and Skyler for making the trek up to hang out and make this beer with us.
Ripley is named for Skyler’s daughter-to-be. Let’s all wish him and his wife a happy and healthy delivery and a bright future fighting aliens in space.
