Querceto di Castellina Podalirio 2018
This wine was first produced in 1999 as a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot. Since 2005, Querceto di Castellina Podalirio is made solely with the French variety to better fit the terroir, not to mention, express its full potential and purity. “Iphiclides Podalirio” is the scientific name of a kind of butterfly with pale yellow wings and black stripes that is found throughout the Querceto estate.
At Querceto, we wholeheartedly believe great wine is made in the vineyard.
It’s the reason we focus on those grape varieties that best express our terroir, like Sangiovese.
It’s also why we apply organic techniques for managing our 28 acres of vines, and focus on producing wines of high quality without chemical treatment and as little disruption as possible to the natural surroundings.
