Refugio Ranch Petite Sirah 2018
Soil Type: Linne Clay Loam – this whitish gray soil contains limestone pieces beginning 18”-24” below the surface. The presence of limestone captures and preserves the freshness in this wine, and being a heavier soil lends itself to a rounder mouthfeel.
Harvested between October 1St and October 22nd.
Aged in new and neutral barrels and 400 liter puncheons for 18 months.
Bottled July 1, 2020
490 cases produced
Wine Enthusiast – “Rugged and earthy aromas of dark plum, elderberry and smoked meat make for a powerful nose on this bottling. There’s a leathery streak to the palate, which plays well against the super dark black fruit flavors.” (90 Pts)
