Domaine Saint Damien Les Souteyrades Gigondas 2020
Philosophy
Organic cultivation, respect for the vine and the soil. We only use natural products to protect the vines from various diseases: sulphur, copper in small quantities in the form of Bordeaux mixture, plant infusions, goat whey, essential oils…
Respect for the soil
In winter, we promote grassing to maintain life in the soil. Fertilization is done only with manure from organic farms located in the Alps. From April to July the soils are worked mechanically.
Winemaking
During the harvest, the work in the cellar is guided by a rigorous selection of the plots, so as to favor the expression of the different soil terroirs, or so that they complement each other during the assembly. All our wines are vinified, aged and bottled at the estate.
Sustainable development
In respect of our neighbors and in order to optimize the quality of our spraying, we have acquired with the help of the European Union a high performance sprayer which makes it possible to limit the drift of product and an excellent quality of application on the vegetal.
Reviews
Jeb Dunnuck – “The 2020 Domaine Saint Damien Les Souteyrades Gigondas is also utterly brilliant. Giving up lots of kirsch liqueur, orange blossom, ground pepper, and herbes de Provence-like aromatics, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and a layered, seamless, elegant mouthfeel that has awesome tannins as well as purity of fruit. It’s another sensational Gigondas to enjoy over the coming two decades. Best after 2023.” (97 Pts)
