Domaine Treloar Three Peaks Côtes du Roussillon 2018
Named after three peaks in the Pyrenees that overlook the vines, plus it’s a reference to Jonathan’s childhood and three well-known peaks in the Yorkshire Dales.
This cuvée is always based on Syrah (the 2018 is 80% Syrah, 12% Grenache, and 8% Mourvèdre), and it reflects the typical clay soils of Les Aspres that are laced with stones. The stones are a mix of schist, marble and granite.
The wine is fermented in native yeast and aged mostly in tank with some wood for 12 months. No fining and no additives.
Total sulfur addition: 78 mg/l.
650 cases.
Rich and spicy with dark fruit flavors. Complex with good structure and body.
Reviews
Tim Atkin – “Lovely smoky aromas with notes of liquorice, black cherry, blueberry and some Asian spice. Power and texture here, with Syrah on stony clay and Mourvèdre on the more red clay soils. Ripe, grippy tannins and a touch of tobacco from some bottle age. 2023-2026.” (92 Pts)
