Viña Ijalba Cuvée 2020
Thinking outside the box, Pepe has crafted this compelling blend with a heavy seasoning of Ijalba’s “outsider” varieties. Aged for ten months in first and second-year American barrels, it realizes a Platonic ideal of classic Rioja oak-aged style, a beguilingly plush texture and an absolutely startling mineral charge.
PREPARATION AND AGEING: Harvested in boxes of 20 Kg and fermentation in French oak vats for 18 days, subsequent malolactic fermentation in new barrels French oak and aging for 10 months.
TASTE: Garnet color, with high aromatic intensity. Ripe berries, toasted notes and herbs aromatic. In the mouth it is tasty, with very tannins. nice, ripe fruits and spices. Persistent.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Grilled meats, peppers red wines and Riojan-style potatoes.
