Von Ebert Agostini Pils
Named after Giacomo Agostini, the legendary Italian motorcycle racer during the 60’s and 70’s. We named the beer in honor of him as he was a winner and we think this beer is a winner as well. It’s hard these days as we try to fit everything into categories or styles and beer, especially in the US is very prone to this. We view Italian-style Pilsner’s as a continuation or creative evolution of the German-style Pilsner’s.
First brewed by Agostino Arioli of Birrifico Italiano, Tipopils really set the benchmark for what we see today. The goal with Von Ebert Agostini Pils was to showcase newer European hop varieties in the dry-hopping of this beer. In our case, we chose Styrian Cardinal. This Slovenian variety really brings a wonderful blend of spearmint and orange peel that complimented the noble hops used in the kettle and whirlpool. The other target for us was to create a dry, crisp finish that would allow the dry-hop to fully be expressed.
