Weingut Am Berg Grüner Veltliner Landwein
The grapes thrive on the best loess, loam and weathered soils (“Urgestein”), the so-called primary rock soils. These have developed over thousands of years. Grown on the best soils around the villages Mittelberg and Langenlois, the wine reflects the Kamptaler spice, coolness and minerality. A traditional Grüner Veltliner, down-to-earth but with precision and drinking pleasure.
Our winery
We are the Gruber family and we run the small “Weingut am Berg” in the idyllic village of Mittelberg in the Austrian Kamptal. Our vines extend over 13 hectares of land. They are surrounded by old fruit trees and cool forests, vegetable beds and fragrant herbs. We call this place “vineyard”. Here we produce everything your heart desires in mixed cultivation and by hand: First and foremost, of course, our wines. But also fresh fruit and vegetables, juices and jams. As well as delicious roasts from one or the other pig bought from the neighbors.
Our vineyard is a place to feel good – and not just for us. We protect beneficial insects such as spiders and insects. In the natural greenery of our vineyard, they find an ideal habitat and support us in pest control in a natural way. Birds also feel at home with us and breed in nest boxes between the vines. We deliberately break up our monoculture with trees and other plants. Everything to show nature the respect it deserves. And to preserve their diversity for future generations.
