Way back in July of 2016, we brewed our English-style Barleywine called Down The Line. We were so thrilled with the results that we knew we had to find some high quality Bourbon barrels in which to age this gem. Fortunately, we came across some beautiful, freshly emptied Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels that would become home to this amazing elixir for the next 28+ months.
So after more than 28 months in the barrel, the flavors have melded leaving us with a complex, yet rounded result. Down the Line Barleywine displays notes of dark caramel, dark fruits (date, fig, plum), molasses, brown sugar and hints of chocolate that integrate seamlessly with bourbon and complex oak tannins from the barrel (vanilla). While the resulting beer was lab tested at 14.2% ABV, you’ll be amazed how drinkable and smooth each sip is on a cool winter’s evening. Although we are confident you could age this beer for many years to come, we have already done much of the aging for you. So drink it now, or years from now, and either experience should be sublime.
