Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G.
Made with 100% Sangiovese from Montalcino and produced in the traditional way, our classic Brunello let’s the purity of the grape shine through. Long wood aging and bottle refinement give this wine incredible depth and complexity.
The 2012 Brunello is aged for just over 3 years in traditional large Slavonian barrels, and then refined in bottle for 8 months prior to release. This wine has great cellaring potential. Intensely mineral, with lots of red fruit flavors, garigue, and geranium notes, this wine makes a wonderful accompaniment to duck, herb encrusted lamb, pasta with a ragu sauce and steak.
Wine Advocate – “Paola Gloder’s 2012 Brunello di Montalcino is a delightful wine with easy-drinking appeal and lots of energy and personality locked within. This Brunello delivers smooth consistency and dark concentration with a saturated garnet hue. The aromas lift off the bouquet with power and determination. They include black berry, spice, cola, tobacco and mild espresso. The wine shows well integrated fruit tannins with good richness and supple power. Like other wines from this vintage, the mouthfeel is slightly leaner and more compact, but this is nicely compensated by its overall balance and focus.” (95 Pts)
James Suckling – “A layered and rich Brunello with chocolate, berry and cherry character. Full-bodied, very velvety and flavorful. Pretty and generous. Drink now.” (95 Pts)
Wine Spectator – “A fluid style, with pure cherry, raspberry and floral notes emanating from the vibrant structure. Leather, tobacco, spice and mineral details add depth as this unfolds into a long, expansive finish. The tannins are solid and integrated.” (93 Pts)
Wine Enthusiast – “Underbrush, chopped aromatic herb, dark spice and balsamic aromas come together in the glass. Firmly structured and elegant with a backbone of taut, refined tannins, the palate doles out ripe Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and baking spice flavors. Drink 2020–2032.” (92 Pts)
