Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout, In Store?
A day I thought would never come: Bine & Vine just put up a pre-order for a legendary Alesmith beer that has never seen distribution: Barrel-Aged Speedway Stout.
This is certainly a surreal moment for me, Barrel Aged Speedway Stout used to be the one of the most coveted beers on the West Coast 10-15 years ago. Back then, the only way to obtain it was to go wait in line at the brewery in order to secure a bottle or two of this magical liquid.
Beyond securing the beer, some of the best bottleshares I’ve been apart of have been in those beer lines; sampling rare beers from all over the world with like-minded beer geeks made those legendary Barrel Aged Speedway release events even more special.
The beer itself tasted phenomenal and was easily worth the hype. Layered flavors of Bourbon-dipped chocolate fudge and brownie batter are balanced phenomenally by rich roasted coffee and a well executed roasted barley character, making for an immense beer that’s decadent yet easy to drink.
