VINEYARDS: A selection of grapes from some the estate’s oldest vineyards. Soils predominantly sandy, with limestone.
AGE OF VINES: 40 years, on average
WINEMAKING: Hand-harvested. Fermented on indigenous yeasts in tank. Malolactic conversion allowed. Aged in tonneaux for four to five months, then five months in bottle.
TASTING IMPRESSIONS: Aromas of bitter orange rind, apple, warm spice, poached white fruit. Savory and fresh, medium-bodied, bright sea-salty finish
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS: Fresh seafood; pesto dishes; baked fish
NOTES: ‘A Matetta’ is dialect, meaning ‘To Angelica,’ the winemaker’s daughter and youngest child.
